Summer Intern

A quick intro to introduce myself, for I am new to the Twelve Horses Blog.

My name is Colin Loretz and I’m happy to be joining the Twelve Horses team, serving as a Technical Intern for the summer. I’m a marketing student and self-taught web developer from the University of Nevada, Reno.

My main interests are in web development and e-marketing, both of which I have been able to get a taste for as the Web & Technology Editor for The Nevada Sagebrush. With the school year coming to an end, I was looking for a summer internship that would play well to my interests in business and technology. That is when I met Robert Payne.

I first met Robert at the university while he was giving a presentation on “the business of blogging” to the collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association. It was through his presentation that I first became aware of Twelve Horses. Today’s college culture is saturated with social networking and user-generated content, so his audience was very accustomed to the likes of MySpace and YouTube. However, out of all the marketing students in the room, I was the only blogger.

Afterwards, I checked out the Twelve Horses website and discovered that we share many common interests: business, e-marketing, web development, blogging, and podcasting; furthermore, I have skills in PHP, CSS, and Ruby on Rails.

The rest is history, and now here I am blogging on Horse Power.

Periodically, I will give blog updates to my status here at Twelve Horses. Right now they’ve got me learning how to do Salesforce integration, and I am writing copy for the website and researching new plugins for the blog. Hopefully I will be able to get my hands on some client work soon. In the meantime, I hope they don’t move my desk into the closet.
